San Luis Canal homicide victim identified

SAN LUIS, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) – The body of a man found near a canal has been identified, according to the Yuma County Sheriff's Office (YCSO).

The victim was identified as Eric Cruz, 29, of Yuma, Arizona. YCSO says next of kin have been notified and the matter continues to be investigated.

Around 6:58 a.m. on June 6, sheriffs were called about a vehicle in a canal in the area of ​​Avenue G and 21st Street in San Luis County, Arizona.

Deputies also confirmed today that he was shot multiple times.

“When officers arrived, they located the male deceased with an apparent gunshot wound and he was pronounced deceased at the scene,” said Tania Pavlak, public affairs specialist with the Yuma County Sheriff's Office.

During their investigation, Cruz's body was found and determined to be the result of a homicide.
