San Jose Show Suspects Arrested

(KRON) — Seven suspects allegedly involved in a violent protest in San Jose have been arrested, the San Jose Police Department said Monday. Six adults and one juvenile were arrested in connection with the incident, which took place last month.

On Saturday, June 15, SJPD officers responded to the area of South Winchester Boulevard and Olin Avenue shortly before 7 p.m., following multiple reports of an illegal street performance. The performance resulted in a spectator being struck by a vehicle driven by an unknown suspect.

A uniformed SJPD reserve officer responded to the scene to assist the injured bystander. However, the officer's patrol vehicle was overrun by multiple suspects, preventing him from assisting the bystander.

In one incident caught on camera, the suspects climbed onto the roof of the patrol vehicle, stomped on the windshield, punched the side windows and tried to open the doors. Police say one of the suspects threatened the officer, telling him they had knives.

The officer was slightly injured. The injured suspect suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The suspects fled before emergency services arrived.

An investigation was opened by the SJPD Traffic Investigation Unit, and Aidan Rheault, 24, of Sunnyvale, was identified as the suspect who allegedly struck the bystander. Detectives with the SJPD Assault Unit began a separate investigation into the assault of the officer and the vandalism of the patrol vehicle. Five adult suspects and one male juvenile suspect have been identified.

  • Gabe Durbin, 26, Yucca, Arizona
  • Jason Auby, 21, of San Francisco
  • Sean Auby, 18, of San Jose
  • Matthew Nolan, 20, of San Mateo

The minor was identified as a 16-year-old Brentwood resident.

Further investigation revealed that suspect Sean Auby was illegally manufacturing ghost guns for sale and distribution, police said. Assault Unit detectives obtained arrest and search warrants for all suspects and their residences.

A 3D printer, materials used to make firearms and two ghost guns were seized from Sean Auby's home. Rheault was arrested in Mountain View on June 17 and booked into the Santa Clara County Jail.
