Riverside County sheriff's deputies are searching for a blue Kia Sorento and its driver who fled the scene after causing a collision that seriously injured another motorist in San Jacinto on Saturday, June 22, the sheriff's department said.

No further information was available Sunday on the car and driver being sought.

The collision occurred at 10:05 p.m. The preliminary investigation revealed that the Kia was traveling at a high rate of speed eastbound on the Ramona Expressway near Old Mountain Avenue and East Esplanade Avenue, passing cars in the westbound lane, according to a sheriff's news release. While passing a silver Chevrolet, the cars collided, pushing the Chevrolet off the road and causing it to overturn.

The driver of the Chevrolet was hospitalized in critical but stable condition.

The Kia had not been located as of Sunday evening.

The Sheriff's Department asked anyone with information about the collision to call Deputy Cortez at 951-766-2368.
