ROK holds live-fire drills on islands near North Korea, largest in six years

South Korea conducted a large-scale live-fire exercise near the maritime border with North Korea on Wednesday for the first time in more than six years, following the suspension of an inter-Korean military agreement earlier this month.

“This is the first live-fire maritime exercise on the northwest islands since the Comprehensive Military Agreement (CMA) was completely suspended due to North Korea's recent provocations, such as GPS jamming and missile launches,” the Republic of Korea Marine Corps said in a press release. .
