Rockford man arrested on sexual assault warrant, threatens to burn down home

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – A 59-year-old Rockford man with a warrant was allegedly involved in a domestic dispute, resulting in an arrest.

Larry Joseph was the subject of an outstanding arrest warrant for criminal sexual assault in Boone County. Joseph was also allegedly involved in a domestic dispute during which he threatened to burn down his family's home in Machesney Park. Due to the threats, police say his family, fearing for their lives, fled the area.

On June 19, police followed up and located Joseph in the 7000 block of Burden Road. He was taken into custody on a warrant and taken to the Winnebago County Jail.

Sheriff Gary Caruana released a statement saying, “Domestic violence remains a significant concern affecting individuals and families throughout our county. I urge anyone who is a victim or witness of a domestic violence situation to report it immediately to law enforcement. There are organizations and support services available to help victims of domestic violence. As Winnebago County Sheriff, I am deeply committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of every resident of our county.
