Robert F. Kennedy Jr. faces fierce criticism after photographing barbecued dog

It looks like this year's presidential election will be marred by disturbing stories involving dogs.

First, South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem (R) became a pariah after she admitted to killing a puppy named Cricket because he was “untameable,” in a book that was supposed to portray her as a potential running mate for Donald Trump, no less.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. appeared to metaphorically say “hold my beer” on Tuesday after a Vanity Fair profile revealed that the independent presidential candidate sent a friend a photo last year showing him and an unidentified woman about to bite into what appeared to be a grilled dog.

The person Kennedy was texting was traveling in Asia and the presidential candidate suggested they might enjoy a restaurant in Korea that served dog on the menu.

Vanity Fair said the photo's metadata shows it was taken in 2010, the same year Kennedy was diagnosed with a parasitic worm in his brain.

HuffPost reached out to Kennedy's campaign for comment, but no one immediately responded.

Responding to the article in an interview with Breaking Points on Tuesday, Kennedy called the profile “garbage” and claimed that the carcass in the photo — which you can see on Vanity Fair — is actually a goat he ate while in Patagonia. However, a veterinarian told Vanity Fair that the carcass is canine due to its 13 pairs of ribs, including the “floating rib” characteristic of dogs. (It’s worth noting that goats also have 13 pairs of ribs.)

Kennedy denied eating dog and reiterated his Patagonian goat story in a social media post.

Yet the people on X, formerly Twitter, had a problem to solve.
