RIO RANCHO, New Mexico — A Rio Rancho man has been arrested and is in custody for allegedly attempting to murder his son.

Vincent Buscema, 59, faces numerous charges, including attempted first-degree murder, aggravated battery, tampering with evidence and child abuse.

Investigators say Buschema sent a text message to his son Sunday afternoon saying, “I’ll come.” You don't talk anymore, big guy. I'm looking for you.”

Police said Buschema then went to Hooters near Cottonwood Mall looking for his son before going to his son's home in Rio Rancho along Aspen Meadows Drive. That's where he was allegedly seen screaming and shooting a gun.

Police say Buschema shot his son and daughter-in-law. They both survived, but Buschema's son was shot in the chest and stomach and taken to UNM Hospital.

His wife told police that two children were in the home when her stepfather started shooting.

Buschema denied shooting his son, but he was eventually arrested. He is being held behind bars.
