GAINESVILLE, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – The reward for the safe return of a missing 12-year-old Gainesville girl has increased, according to the Hall County Sheriff's Office.

The sheriff's office said an “unnamed businessman” added $10,000 to the reward, bringing it to $30,000.

“As investigators from the Hall County Sheriff's Office and other law enforcement agencies continue their efforts to find Maria, I am once again grateful for a new outpouring of support with the additional reward funding “said Sheriff Gerald Couch. “Someone in the community has that one clue or piece of information that could lead to Maria. I pray that this increased reward will encourage them to come forward.

Couch said law enforcement believed Gomez-Perez was in danger. However, the sheriff said no Amber Alert was issued because there was little information about where she might be and who, if anyone, she might be with.
