Revenge porn plot backfires on British teen

A British teenager who tried to “clear her name” over a stolen coat faces a potential two-year prison sentence after a revenge porn plot blew up in her face.

Abigail Stringfellow, 19, photographed herself and a friend enjoying a threesome with another man and then sent the images to her friend's partner, a court heard.

The Manchester local was bitter over a stolen coat and sent the images in a bid to upset her friend, ignoring the legal repercussions and the danger she was putting her friend in. She has since admitted disclosing private sexual photographs and films with the intention of causing distress.

Her friend, who cannot be named because she was only 17 at the time, told the court that “Abigail’s actions destroyed my life”.

“She humiliated me, embarrassed me and caused the end of my relationship. I hate her for what she did. I want her to know what her actions led to,” she said.

Prosecutor Laura Taylor said the teenage victim had sex with Ms Stringfellow and a stranger on April 20 and because of the pornographic content she was attacked by her disgruntled partner.

“He requested that she (17) come to his home after she finished work. She did so and at that point she was subjected to a violent attack by him,” Ms Taylor added.

“He said the defendant showed him three images of the victim engaging in sexual relations at the time when he and the victim were still in a relationship.”

Despite admitting sharing the content, Ms Stringfellow's lawyer, Matthew Wallace, denied the victim asked for the images to be removed.

“Miss Stringfellow was accused of being a thief and became very angry. She contacted her boyfriend to explain where the jacket had come from and he said he didn't believe her, so she said that “She could send proof that the victim had been unfaithful in the past,” Mr Wallace said.

“She was trying to clear her name regarding the theft and she was angry. These are graphic images. She did not expect the victim to suffer physical harm.”

Ms. Stringfellow is expected to be sentenced at a later date.
