Report: Vince Kompany identified three major shortcomings with Bayern Munich

According to a report from journalist Georg Holzner (captured by @iMiaSanMia), Vincent Kompany believes there are three major problems with the current Bayern Munich squad:

  • A lack of leaders
  • Not enough quality players for Bayern Munich
  • The need for a “new backbone”

These topics were discussed during Kompany's interviews with Max Eberl and Christoph Freund before Kompany's hiring:

During interviews with Max Eberl and Christoph Freund, Vincent Kompany would have arrived at an analysis similar to that of Thomas Tuchel a year ago and Ralf Rangnick a few weeks ago: too many players in the squad are not at the level from Bayern, there is a lack of leaders and a new spine is needed. These three fundamental deficits must be filled by Kompany and Eberl.

A bit like Tuchel, eh? Things could be about to get very interesting…

The moment they change to Bayern Munich. Vincent Kompany appears to be taking over at Bavaria, while the club's former favorite son, Hansi Flick, is heading to FC Barcelona. Who will do best with their new club? We'll find out, but in the meantime there could also be Bayern players who are also on Flick's transfer radar. Basically, we have a lot to talk about with all of this, as well as some appreciation for Bayer Leverkusen's incredible season.
