Regulators collect public comments on proposed LNG pipeline ending near Gillis

VINTON, La. (KPLC) – A 690-mile pipeline has been proposed to transport natural gas from west Texas to southwest Louisiana.

Moss Lake Partners has begun a pre-filing application process for the DeLa Express Pipeline. It would originate in the Permian Basin and end near Gillis in Calcasieu Parish.

Representatives from Moss Lake and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission visited Vinton this evening to gather public input as they prepare for their permit application.

“A safe and reliable opportunity to once again transport Permian natural gas to markets where it is needed and then some of it will then be exported and again supply the gas even to international markets,” said Chris Thiele of Moss Lake.

Some residents near the proposed pipeline route have raised concerns about their own health and safety, as well as the welfare of endangered wetland species.

Moss Lake officials hope to submit the permit application for the pipeline early next year. They expect the pipeline to be operational in 2028.

Instructions for filing a comment with FERC can be found HERE. The DeLa Express pipeline docket number is PF24-4-000.
