Reece Donohue: Funeral details announced for Cavan teenager who died in work accident

Reece Donohue (17) died in the fatal incident at the Wilton site in Kifagh, near Ballyjamesduff shortly after 4.30pm on Thursday 13 June.

Gardaí and emergency services attended but the teenager was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body was taken to the Cavan General Hospital mortuary and a post-mortem was later carried out.

The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) has also been informed and a file will be prepared for the coroner's court.

Reece is predeceased by his grandparents Joe and Joan Donohoe, his great-aunt Angela, his aunt Adriana and his nephew Kai.

He will be sadly missed by his heartbroken mother Mary, his father Brian, his sisters Amber and Jade, his grandparents Rita and John, his niece Croía, his stepfather Paul, his uncle Niall, his girlfriend Meabh, his half -brother Aaron, his extended family, cousins ​​and many beloved friends. .

In a statement, a Wilton Waste spokesperson said: “The company extends its deepest condolences to the employee’s family at this very sad time.

“As a sign of respect, the company has decided to close its doors until further notice.”

Local Fine Gael councilor Trevor Smith said people in the wider Kilnaleck area were shocked and saddened by this terrible tragedy.

He described that the deceased was a “popular young lad” and that the local community in and around Kilnaleck was in shock at the news.

He added: “I am sure the local community will support Reece’s family in any way they can,” said Cllr Smith, who also expressed his deepest condolences to the teenager’s family.

Another resident who knew the family described Reece as “a lovely young man who never made a fuss”.

While another described him as “a boy any mother would be proud to have as a son”.
