Redwood City woman arrested for setting her car on fire

(KRON) — Police arrested a woman on Wednesday for arson in connection with a car fire, the Redwood City Police Department said.

Police received reports of a fire in the parking lot of 1107 Second Ave. in Redwood City. The caller who reported the fire also provided a description of a “suspicious” woman who was lurking near the fire, police said. Officers were then dispatched to investigate the incident.

Upon arriving on scene, officers located the first fire and “a vehicle fully engulfed in flames.” They also located and immediately arrested the woman, who was later identified as Amber Devisser, a 33-year-old Redwood City resident.

Investigators then contacted the witness, who was able to provide a video recording of Davisser apparently starting the fire in the parking lot, police said. The video also showed Devisser pouring an unknown flammable liquid onto a nearby car, which then burst into flames, police said.

Police also later discovered that Devisser was out on bail following a previous criminal case. Devisser was arrested for arson, resisting arrest and committing a felony while out on bail. She was incarcerated at Maguire Correctional Centre.
