Recent Fifth District Court convictions: June 15, 2024 – The Globe

WORTHINGTON — Four individuals were recently convicted in criminal cases previously reported by the Globe.

  • Thayn Marsh, 40, of Chester, South Dakota, was sentenced in Murray County Fifth District Court following an incident in December 2023. While two of three criminal charges were dismissed , Marsh was convicted June 3 of fifth-degree drug possession. He was sentenced to three days in jail and three years of supervised probation, as well as ordered to pay $1,000 in restitution.
  • Kennedy Anderson, 23, of Windom, was sentenced May 29 in Cottonwood County Fifth District Court following an incident earlier this year. Although two of the three charges were dismissed, Anderson was sentenced to two years of probation for fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle.
  • Keith Byam, 40, of Chandler, was sentenced June 10 in Murray County Fifth District Court following an incident in January. Although two of the three charges were dismissed, Byam was convicted of failing to submit a predatory offender verification form. He was sentenced to 34 months in prison and ordered to pay $335 in court costs.
  • Bounkhom Xayphantho, 50, of Worthington, was sentenced in Nobles County Fifth District Court on June 11 following an incident earlier this year. One of the two charges was dismissed, but Xayphantho was sentenced to a year in prison for fifth-degree drug possession. This sentence is suspended for two years and Xayphantho was ordered to pay $935 in court costs.
