Real estate mogul Patrick Carroll arrested after allegedly fleeing police

Real estate mogul Patrick Carroll was arrested in Los Angeles on Monday, July 1, according to arrest records obtained by PEOPLE.

The Miami-based businessman was arrested and charged with a felony Monday night. He was taken into custody at the Los Angeles Police Department's Hollywood Division. He was released on the afternoon of Wednesday, July 3.

According to a report obtained by WSVN 7News, Carroll, 44, allegedly drove under the influence of alcohol. He then led Los Angeles authorities on a car chase down the freeway in an attempt to evade arrest. He also allegedly attempted to flee on foot.

Authorities also recovered weapons at the scene of the incident. It is unclear what prompted the LAPD's arrest and pursuit of Carroll.

Carroll confirmed his arrest in an Instagram Stories video on Wednesday, July 3.

“I’ve been arrested and charged with this stuff,” he said, before suggesting the charges were gun-related. “Yes, I like guns, but show me one person I’ve shot. I’ve never shot anybody. In fact, I’ve never hurt a fly.”

Carroll’s arrest in California follows multiple legal incidents in Florida. Earlier this year, in March, police responded to Carroll’s waterfront property in Miami after a 911 call reported that he had fired a gun in his backyard. He was later ordered to undergo a mental health evaluation following the incident, according to The Real Deal.

Five months earlier, he was arrested for assault and battery after being accused of assault by two employees of the Gold Rush Cabaret, according to The Real Deal.

In August 2022, he allegedly got into a fight with someone at a UNICEF gala after-party in Capri, Italy, according to PageSix.

Additionally, he was banned from Miami-based restaurants including Carbone, Hiyakawa Miami and Cote Miami, according to The Daily Beast.

In July 2023, he reportedly signed a deal and sold his family business for around $80 million, The Real Deal reports.
