Rape: 10 youths jailed for drugging and raping teenage girl | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad: Ten youths who allegedly drugged a teenage girl with marijuana-laced soft drinks and raped her repeatedly over the past few months, resulting in the girl becoming pregnant, were arrested by the Neredmet police . The survivor was handed over to the Medchal-Malkajgiri district child welfare committee for further care and protection, while the accused were remanded to judicial custody on Sunday. Rachakonda police said the accused, who are in private occupations and aged between 22 and 26 years and one of them 30 years old, were all addicted to marijuana and seven of them had criminal history. Three of them were previously arrested for drug possession, one for attempted murder and the other for extortion in different parts of the city. The girl, aged 13, and her mother moved to another part of the city after the death of her father a few years ago. The girl dropped out of school and stayed at home, while her mother worked as a domestic help in the neighborhood. The young girl met the main accused through a neighbor. Later, he lured her in the name of love. They became close and he started taking her out. A few months ago, he took her to a secluded place near his home in Neredmet and allegedly raped her. He later sexually assaulted her multiple times, police said. After learning of the attack, her friends began blackmailing the girl and allegedly raped her one after the other several times. On one occasion, five of them allegedly gang-raped the girl. The attack came to light a week ago after the girl fell ill and was discovered to be pregnant. Initially, a case was registered in Kachiguda and was transferred to Neredmet for further investigation. Based on the girl's statement, the case was amended with charges of gang rape and Pocso.
