Ralphs employee assaulted after arresting suspected shoplifter in Los Angeles

Police are searching for a group of people responsible for the assault of a Ralphs employee in the Encino neighborhood of Los Angeles on Monday.

KTLA obtained video from a store employee of the attack inside the store located at 17840 Ventura Blvd. around 4:45 p.m.

The first video shows three suspects, a woman and two men, entering the store and confronting an unidentified employee standing next to a female employee.

Within seconds, one of the suspects punched the employee before the fight briefly disappeared from the camera's view.

The fight reappears, showing the victim attacked by several suspects.

The employee who provided the video said that at one point, a suspect pushed a shopping cart toward the victim.

Another angle of the incident shows the store employee trying to run away from the suspects after the first punch.

The incident began earlier in the day when that same employee stopped the young woman from stealing bags full of merchandise, according to the employee who provided the video.

The same woman returned with the men seen in the video a few hours later, the employee told KTLA.

A spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed officers responded to the store regarding the incident, but did not confirm any details.

No injuries were reported during the altercation, police said.
