Quarryville man gets long sentence for running meth trafficking ring

QUARRYVILLE, PA — Samuel Carr of Quarryville, Pennsylvania, was sentenced to a lengthy prison term ranging from 34.5 to 69 years for his significant role in a methamphetamine distribution ring. The sentencing was handed down by Judge Ann Marie Wheatcraft.

Carr, previously convicted by a jury on March 6, faced charges including possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and trafficking in proceeds of unlawful activity. His criminal history includes prior convictions for robbery, aggravated assault and similar drug offenses. At the time of his latest offense, Carr was on parole following a 20-year sentence.

The conviction follows a joint investigation launched in 2016 by Chester County detectives and Pennsylvania State Police into a drug trafficking organization (DTO) led by Richard Maitre, which found a significant flow of methamphetamine in southern Chester County. Carr was identified as a runner, contractor and debt collector within this DTO, which also had ties to Ohio and Arizona.

This extensive operation culminated in January 2017 with the execution of sixteen search warrants, resulting in approximately fifty arrests and the seizure of approximately six pounds of methamphetamine. Carr was apprehended after twelve days on the run and a brief car chase, during which he was found with an illegal handgun.

Chester County Prosecutor Christopher L. de Barrena-Sarobe highlighted the collaborative efforts of local law enforcement and state police, emphasizing the impact of excluding a repeat violent offender from the community.
