Puppy Rescued From Altadena Structure Fire Is Up For Adoption – NBC Los Angeles

Sparky, an energetic and affectionate pup, is looking for a new forever home after surviving a structure fire in Altadena.

After being rescued from the backyard of an abandoned house that caught fire last Memorial Day, the resilient Pitbull mix has been in the care of Pasadena Humane for nearly a month.

“We were really hoping that the owner of the home would come forward or that we would be able to make contact with his family, but no one has come forward,” said Kevin McManus of Pasadena Humane, adding that it’s unclear how he ended up alone in the backyard of a vacant home.

Staff at the nonprofit named the dog, estimated to be about 7 or 8 years old, Sparky, while tending to his medical needs, including bandaging an old leg fracture and keeping him up to date on his shots and microchip.

Now that the caramel-colored pup is in better shape, the group is trying to find him a loving home.

“Sparky is the sweetest dog in the world because he bonds so much with people,” said Kevin McManus of Pasadena Humane. “One of his favorite things to do is sit next to you and cuddle.”

Sparky has fully recovered from his injuries and is back to chasing balls and giving cuddles.

“He’s like everybody’s best friend,” McManus said. “We’re really confident he’s going to find a great home.”
