FAIRBANKS RANCH, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — A protester calling for a ceasefire in Gaza was arrested Friday in the Fairbanks Ranch neighborhood during Vice President Kamala Harris' visit to the San Diego area for a political fundraiser, authorities said.

Around 3 p.m., Harris' motorcade arrived in the 1600 block of Circa del Norte where about 50 protesters gathered outside the gated entrance to the Fairbanks Ranch community, said Lt. Gavin Lanning of the County Sheriff's Department. San Diego in a press release.

“One of the protesters jumped in front of the motorcade to block Vice President Harris from entering the neighborhood,” Lanning said.

Authorities arrested the protester who was blocking the procession, but another protester intervened, causing the first protester to flee.

Anisa Rebecca Chaudry, 36, was identified as the second protester, according to law enforcement. She was arrested on suspicion of obstructing a peace officer and taken to the North Shore Sheriff's Station where she was cited and released.

The demonstration ended after 45 minutes. No property or vehicle damage was noted and no injuries were reported.
