Proposed neighborhood near Highway 16 doubles in size

A proposed neighborhood near a future Interstate 16 overpass in Meridian is shifting gears.

BoiseDev previously reported that the Rockwell Greens subdivision was awaiting a hearing to move forward. But it appears plans have changed.

The Conger Group withdrew its application for the project. Instead, it submitted preliminary documents for the same property, plus 27 acres. The expanded project includes 425 units, up from the 205 previously proposed. The newly filed preliminary documents show a mix of 351 single-family homes labeled “cottages” and 74 duplexes.

Previously filed documents with the city described the neighborhood as offering “much-needed housing options” and “affordable homes” in a “desirable” part of the city. Previously submitted plans showed the neighborhood was to be built in three phases, but it’s unclear how many phases would be included in the updated plan.

Before work on the neighborhood can move forward, Conger Group will have to resubmit a formal application to the city. Rockwell Greens will then have to hold hearings before the Meridian Planning and Zoning Commission, Meridian's city council, and will have to get the council's approval.
