“Problem” Shreveport apartment complex catches fire Sunday

A Shreveport apartment complex, recently at the center of controversy, caught fire Sunday, May 26.

The fire occurred just two weeks after the apartment complex made headlines for its possible water outage due to the absence of a landlord.

The Jolie Apartments, located in the 1000 block of Quail Creek Road, had more than 20 Shreveport Fire units on scene Sunday when a three-story apartment building had smoke and flames coming from the rear of the building.

Shreveport firefighters were dispatched to the Jolie Apartments just before 2:30 p.m. on reports of a fire, according to Brandon Lee, administrative assistant to the fire chief.

When firefighters arrived, they discovered an individual hanging from a window. Firefighters immediately began rescuing the individual and, according to Lee, the individual was successfully rescued via a ladder and suffered no injuries.

Thirteen minutes after arriving on scene, a second alarm was triggered: additional resources were required.

Lee said no injuries were reported by the public, but one firefighter was transported for unrelated symptoms.

The Shreveport Times contacted the City of Shreveport Mayor's Office in response to this fire and the current situation at the apartment complex, but did not receive a response by deadline.
