Princess Kate sends message to Irish guards over disappearance of Trooping The Color

Princess Kate has expressed regret at missing the annual Trooping the Color parade next weekend in honor of King Charles III's birthday. The event is a major one in the royal calendar.

On Saturday, the Irish Guards shared a letter from the Princess of Wales, who is currently being treated for cancer. In the letter, she expressed her regret for not being able to attend the rehearsal on June 8.

“I wanted to write to you and let you know how proud I am of the whole regiment before the Colonel's Review and Color Parade. I appreciate that everyone participating this year has been training for months and putting in many hours to ensure their uniforms and drills are impeccable,” Middleton’s letter read.

“Being your colonel remains a great honor and I am truly sorry that I will not be able to receive the salute at this year’s Colonel’s Review,” she continued. “Please convey my apologies to the entire regiment, but I hope to be able to represent you again very soon. Please send best wishes and good luck to everyone involved.

The Princess of Wales signed it “Colonel Catherine”.

The Irish Guards wrote on X next to the images in the letter. It was republished by the Prince and Princess of Wales.

“The Irish Guards were deeply touched to receive a letter this morning from our Colonel, Her Royal Highness, The Princess of Wales. We continue to wish Her Royal Highness a speedy recovery and send her our best wishes. Quis Separabit @KensingtonRoyal @ArmyInLondon,” the Irish guards wrote.

On Thursday, a Kensington Palace spokesperson confirmed that the Princess of Wales would not attend the traditional Colonel's Review to receive the salute on June 8.
