Princess DianaThe brother of Charles Spencerthe 9th Earl Spencer, and his wife of 13 years, the Countess of Spencer Karen Spencerannounced their divorce.

“It’s extremely sad. I just want to devote myself to all my children and my grandchildren, and I wish Karen all happiness in the future,” he told the Mail on Sunday in a statement.

Regarding the reason for their separation, the report states that the marriage allegedly “broke down amid the pressure of writing his harrowing memoir detailing the physical and sexual abuse he suffered at residential school.”

They share a 12-year-old daughter named Charlotte Diane.

The Times reported that the earl had hired a famous divorce lawyer. Fiona Shackleton to represent it. Shackleton is the same lawyer King Charles used when he and Princess Diana divorced in 1992.

Shackleton also represented Prince Andrew in his divorce from Sarah Ferguson.

The count is also the father of Lady Kitty Spencer, Lady Eliza Spencer, Lady Amelia Spencer And Louis Spencer, Viscount Althorp (all with his first wife Victoria Lockwood) and the Honorable Edmund Spencer And Lady Lara Spencer (with his second wife Caroline Freud.)
