Presidency 2027: Why LP will not authorize the so-called Atiku-Obi alliance

Abayomi Arabambi, National Publicity Secretary of the Labor Party, has said his party will not allow its 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, to join the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), despite the crisis rocking the party .

Arabambi made the revelation while speaking on Channels Television, adding that the party was working on a political solution to resolve its internal crisis so that Obi would not work with Atiku Abubakar ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

The Labor Party leader said: “Politically, we will not let the crisis fester for long and we will now allow Peter Obi to join Atiku.

“We knew their plan, that’s why we said we had to explore a political solution between us.”

After meeting the former Vice President, Peter Obi is said to have hatched a plan to abandon the Labor Party in favor of the PDP.

Several political experts have predicted that the duo could work together to unseat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

Arabambi, who also spoke about the Labor Party's legal struggle, also commented on the legal crisis rocking the party.

The FCT High Court ordered Abure and two others to desist from presenting themselves as the national convener of the Labor Party. In his reaction to the judgment,

Arabambi said all measures taken by Abure from March 2023 to March 2024 remained null and void.

He said: “Since the Court of Appeal has just set aside the judgment in March 2024, anything else done between March 2023 and 2024 by Julius Abure is void. »

Meanwhile, Peter Obi, the former Labor Party presidential candidate, has reiterated his commitment to the party.

The former Anambra State governor made the comment while denying reports that he was considering abandoning the party in favor of the PDP.

Rumors that Obi abandoned the Labor Party in favor of the PDP went viral after his closed-door meeting with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
