Pregnant woman stabbed multiple times next to ATM; police release photos of suspect

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Authorities are searching for an armed suspect after a 30-year-old pregnant woman was brutally attacked in Mira Mesa Saturday, authorities said.

According to the San Diego Police Department, the incident occurred around 10 a.m. while the victim was standing outside of his vehicle at a drive-thru ATM in the 8200 block of Alta View Drive.

Police said the suspect, described as a man in his 20s or 30s, approached the woman, who was four months pregnant, and struck her with a knife in the upper body. The suspect then allegedly pushed the victim to the ground before stabbing him twice in the upper body.

The victim began kicking the suspect and screamed for help, police said. As pedestrians in the parking lot came to his aid, the man fled the scene. Authorities say the suspect made no statements or demands before or during the attack.

The woman suffered a laceration to her neck, left shoulder and chin. She was taken by ambulance to a local hospital. Police said in an update Saturday evening that she is now at home recovering.

The suspect is not in custody at this time. He was described as having a medium build with brown hair. He was last seen wearing a long-sleeved gray shirt and multi-colored floral stretch pants. San Diego Police released the below photos of the suspect to FOX 5/KUSI.
