Pranksters risk their lives on the O-Bahn

A dangerous craze has emerged with Adelaide's daredevils standing between O-Bahn tracks while buses rush overhead.

A teenager told 7News she was pressured to risk her life by giving in suddenly, and she is now warning others not to copy.

Hundreds of buses use the O-Bahn every day at speeds of up to 100 km/h.

While this is a no-pedestrian zone, daredevils lurk between the lanes, waiting for a stampede.

Stephanie said she was only 12 when she faced pressure from her older peers to do so.

“It was terrifying,” she said.

“Like your heart is coming out of your chest.”

“You lie underneath, between the O-Bahn tracks, so you feel your whole body lifting.”

It is understood the death-defying prank has been well known in Adelaide's north-east suburbs for years.

“Mostly drunk 15-year-olds running around at night,” Stephanie said.

Local teenagers told 7News many of their friends were seriously injured after attempting the prank.

They warn others not to do it.

“If you know anything about physics or science, you know it’s a terrible idea,” said Toby, a local teenager.

It's been a horror 24 hours for the O-Bahn, with a teenager struck in Marden just after 7pm yesterday.

Police said the teen was admitted to Women and Children's Hospital, but they could not provide further information.

Meanwhile, a 19-year-old man died after being hit by a bus near the Paradise Interchange. His death does not appear suspicious.
