Corning police arrested a possible suspect in the stabbing of a Corning man June 25 at the Olive Grove Apartments on Highway 99W. Around 1:15 p.m., police received a report that a man in an apartment was reporting he had been stabbed. The adult white male was transported by ambulance to Enloe Medical Center in Chico for treatment of a stab wound to the front of the neck, below the chin, said Corning Police Sgt. David Pryatel. During the investigation, police discovered that the stabbing took place elsewhere and not in the alleged victim's apartment. While searching the scene of the assault, police spotted an acquaintance of the alleged victim walking in an orchard adjacent to the apartment complex. When police made contact with the potential suspect, he immediately became combative, leading police to throw him to the ground in an attempt to handcuff him. As the man continued to fight the officers, one of the officers used a Taser to subdue the combative subject who was ultimately arrested and booked into the Tehama County Jail on suspicion of resisting his arrest. arrest and other charges.
