Porsche crash in Pune: Teen's grandfather arrested, CCTV tampering allegations emerge

In a developing story related to a tragic Porsche accident in Pune, which resulted in the death of two software engineers, the teenage driver's grandfather has been remanded in police custody till May 28. Authorities say the DVR from a CCTV camera, which could contain crucial evidence about the crash, was found at his home and appears to have been tampered with.

The arrest came following allegations of “kidnapping” the family's driver following the May 19 crash. The prosecution, presenting the case in a holiday court, suggested that the DVR footage had been altered and required cyber-forensic analysis.

Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar revealed that the minor's father and grandfather tried to coerce the driver into taking responsibility for the accident by offering bribes and threats.

The court was informed that the grandfather, a well-known figure in the local real estate sector, had previous legal run-ins in Kondhwa, Bund Garden and Mahabaleshwar. Despite his defense claim that he was in Delhi when the accident happened and only returned to Pune the next morning, the court decided to remand him to judicial custody for further investigation on the case, including recovering the driver's confiscated phone.

Defending the accused, lawyer Prashant Patil disputed the allegations of wrongful confinement, suggesting that the driver had voluntarily stayed in the servants' quarters of the accused's bungalow. He also highlighted the accused's health problems and requested that arrangements be made for medical emergencies.
