Porsche crash in Pune: 'Doctors had said…' says teen's mother amid blood sample exchange charge

A day after the arrest of the teenager's mother – accused of knocking down two people in her Porsche car on May 19 – the Special Holiday Court in Pune remanded the minor's parents in police custody until 'to June 5.

Earlier on May 1, the teenager's mother – Shivani Agarwal – was arrested as she allegedly exchanged her blood sample to prove that her son was not drunk that day.

According to Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, investigation revealed that the teenager's mother had replaced her son's blood samples with her own. Besides Shivani, the miner's father, builder Vishal Agarwal, also got time till June 5.

Police had sought Shivani's custody for seven days, saying they wanted to cross-examine doctors along with the parents and also collect CCTV footage, News18 reported.

Kumar added that Shivani feigned ignorance why doctors at Sassoon Hospital asked her to give her blood as a sample instead of her son's.

“We have recorded the statement of the woman (49). She told us that doctors at the hospital told her to give her blood as a sample instead of her son's. She pretended not to know why the doctors had told her that,” she said. Times of India the report quotes Pune Commissioner of Police (CP) Amitesh Kumar as saying.

Meanwhile, the local court placed the minor's father and grandfather in custody for 14 days in the May 31 judgment for alleged kidnapping and confinement of their driver, the news agency reported. PTI.

On May 19, a drunken 17-year-old boy killed two IT professionals with his Porsche car in Pune's Kalyani Nagar area while the two were riding a motorcycle. The boy did not have a valid license. The police registered three separate FIRs: one in connection with the accident and the second against the bar for serving alcohol to a minor. The third concerns the unjustified confinement of the accused's relatives on the family driver so that he assumes responsibility for the accident.

Other developments:

On Saturday, the teen revealed he was drunk at the time of the crash and didn't remember anything. He was questioned for more than an hour (11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.) in the presence of his mother.

The minor is in an observation house until June 5. On Friday, the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) authorized police to investigate the teenager. Police also said the teen remained discreet during questioning despite his best efforts.

Meanwhile, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MP from Vadgaon Sheri – facing allegations of influencing the investigation in the Pune Porsche crash case in favor of the accused minor – is all set to open an investigation, Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar said.

Defending Tingre, Pawar said baseless allegations were being leveled against him. “Did Sunil Tingre try to hush up the matter? The allegations against him are baseless,” Ajit Pawar said.
