Porsche case in Pune: Father of accused teenager gets bail

Pune: The Pune district court on Friday granted bail to Vishal Agarwal, the father of the teenager involved in the high-profile Porsche car accident case in Pune. Agarwal was registered under Section 75 of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015.

His lawyer, Prashant Patil, said Agarwal would continue to cooperate with the ongoing investigation. Patil said, “My client Vishal Agarwal has been granted bail by the Hon’ble Sessions Court, Pune. It is his duty to comply with the conditions imposed by the Court and will continue to cooperate with the investigating agency.

The father of the accused teenager is in police custody for handling blood samples, while the grandfather is in police custody following his arrest for allegedly kidnapping the family driver in order to force him to take responsibility for the crime on behalf of his minor grandson.

Two IT professionals, who were traveling on bicycles, died on the night of May 19 after a Porsche car, allegedly driven by the accused minor, hit them.

The teenager was detained in an observation house by order of the Juvenile Justice Board. He was previously granted bail in the case, but was later sent to an observation house for 14 days until June 5.

On June 15, a paternal aunt of the minor accused in the car accident case moved the Bombay High Court, claiming that the teenager's detention was “illegal” and demanded his immediate release.
