Porsche accident in Pune: Teen's father contacted doctor and offered inducements to alter son's blood samples, police say | Pune News

PUNE: Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar on Monday revealed that the father of the teenager allegedly involved in the Porsche Taycan accident, which claimed the lives of two IT professionals, had contacted the one of the doctors in the forensic department of Sassoon General Hospital. He even offered incentives to replace his son's blood samples.


Police notably arrested Dr Ajay Taware, head of the forensic medicine department at Sassoon Hospital, and Dr Shrihari Halnor, superintendent doctor of the government hospital, for allegedly tampering with evidence relating to the accused minor.


The doctor duo was arrested on Monday for allegedly altering blood sample reports.

“We arrested Taware and Halnor for tampering with blood samples and manipulating blood sample reports. Our investigation into the hospital's procedures revealed the manipulation, which led to the arrests,” Amitesh Kumar said during of a press conference.


Kumar mentioned that police are currently investigating the source of the blood samples that were used to replace those of the minor.

The tragic accident took place early in the morning of May 19 in Pune's Kalyani Nagar area when a Porsche, allegedly being driven at high speed by the minor, collided with a motorcycle, killing two people. .


The crime branch is currently investigating the case and several people have been arrested, including the teenager's father, a real estate agent, and his grandfather.


Initially, the Juvenile Justice Board had granted bail to the teenager under certain conditions. However, following public outcry over this perceived leniency, the decision was reconsidered and the teenager was remanded in an observation home until June 5.
