PTC Press Office: The 17-year-old who killed two young IT professionals on May 19 by running over them with his super Porsche car has confessed to Pune police that he was under the influence of alcohol, according to reports at the time of the collision.

According to India Today, citing police sources, the teenager admitted to authorities that he did not remember each episode in detail when they questioned him.

It was earlier stated that the teenager had informed the Pune police that he did not remember anything as he was in an inebriated state at the time of the accident during the interrogation lasting over an hour (11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.). He was questioned in front of crime police officials, including district child protection officer and deputy commissioner of police Sunil Tambe, as well as his mother, who was taken into custody on Saturday.

The youth remained silent during his interrogation despite attempts to extract information, authorities told HT.

“Our officials questioned the minor about his whereabouts before the collision, his attendance at the Blak and Cosie bars, his experience driving the Porsche, details of the collision, tampering with evidence, taking of blood samples and medical examinations.

According to a crime branch official, the child had only one answer to each question, stating that he was intoxicated and did not remember anything. After preliminary investigation, it was found that the young man and his companions had consumed alcohol in both bars, resulting in a total bill of Rs 48,000.

The mother of the young driver, arrested Saturday on suspicion of giving her own blood sample instead of her son's, told police that doctors at Sassoon General Hospital had asked her to do it. This was reported by the Times of India, which quoted Pune Commissioner of Police (CP) Amitesh Kumar.

“The statement of the woman (49 years old) was documented. She informed us that instead of giving a blood sample to her son, the doctors at the hospital asked her to give him theirs. She did appearing not to understand why the doctors had told him so much, Amitesh Kumar was quoted as saying by the Times of India.

In a case involving destruction of evidence, a Pune court on Sunday sent the boy's parents to jail till June 5.

The two are being investigated for their possible involvement in altering the minor's blood sample after the car accident that killed two IT professionals on May 19 in Pune, Maharashtra.

On June 1, Shivani Agarwal, the boy's mother, was taken into custody after it was discovered that her blood samples had been replaced with those of the boy.

His father, real estate agent Vishal Agrawal, was arrested by the Pune police after he was arrested in a related incident on suspicion of destroying evidence. The two men were produced by the police at a vacation court in Pune, Maharashtra, and their remand was granted till June 5.

Vishal Agarwal's two men conspired and destroyed evidence related to the accident, police told the court.

According to authorities, they went to a public hospital and falsified the minor's blood samples. Prashant Patil, the couple's lawyer, said police had already searched their home and found CCTV footage of their setup.

They were charged with causing disappearance of evidence of a crime (Section 201 of the IPC), which is a bailable offence. As a result, Patil said, they should be taken into judicial custody.

Apart from the minor's parents, Surendra Agarwal, the minor's grandfather, was also arrested by the police on suspicion of kidnapping the family's driver and pressuring him to take responsibility for the accident, among other crimes.

Two doctors from the government-run Sassoon General Hospital and a staff member are among others detained by police for allegedly exchanging mino blood samples.

Three separate cases have been filed by the police in connection with the vehicle accident. Two of the three cases involve the bar allegedly supplying alcohol and one is related to the accident.

The boy's father was charged by police for letting him drive the vehicle without a license. In a third example, the family's driver was wrongly detained and forced to accept responsibility for the collision.
