Porsche accident in Pune: 17-year-old admits he was drunk at the time of the incident

The minor involved in the tragic Porsche accident in Pune has admitted to the police that he was very drunk at the time of the accident that resulted in the death of two IT professionals on May 19, sources said on Sunday.

During interrogation, he stated that he did not remember all the exact details of the incident.

In related news, the teenager's parents, Shivani Agarwal and Vishal Agarwal, have been remanded to judicial custody till June 5 by a Pune court. They face charges of tampering with evidence for allegedly interfering with the blood sample.

The teenager, believed to be the son of a prominent Pune businessman, hit and killed two individuals on a motorcycle in Kalyani Nagar area. Following the crash, efforts were made to suggest the boy was not under the influence while driving, with evidence suggesting his blood samples had been swapped to support this claim.

CCTV footage was released showing the teenager drinking in a pub just before the crash. However, when he was taken to Sassoon General Hospital for a medical check-up, it was found that his blood sample had been replaced with that of his mother, on the instructions of his father. Allegations have also been made that the father paid medical staff in exchange for their complicity.

Authorities revealed that the Agarwal couple conspired to destroy evidence by manipulating blood samples at a government hospital.

In response to the incident, the police opened three separate proceedings: one related to the accident, a second involving the bar accused of having served alcohol to the underage driver and a third concerning the coercion exerted on the family driver to take responsibility for the accident.

In addition to the parents, the boy's grandfather was arrested. Additionally, two Sassoon General Hospital doctors and an employee were arrested for their alleged involvement in handling blood samples.

Dozens of teams comprising over 100 people have been constituted by the police to investigate various aspects of the case which has sparked outrage not only in Pune but across the country.
