NEW DELHI: Pune police on Saturday morning arrested the grandfather of the 17-year-old minor who fatally knocked down two people with his Porsche in Pune city for “wrongful confinement” of their family driver, an official said on Saturday. He and the child's parents were found to have threatened the family driver make declarations by taking the blame for the accident.
The teenager's father, Vishal Agarwal, has also been named in the case, the official said.
Following a complaint lodged by the driver of the minor's family, the Yerawada police registered a separate offense against the teenager's grandfather and father under sections 365 of the IPC (kidnapping with intent to secretly and unjustly confine a person) and 368 (concealment or illegal detention of a person). ), he said.
“After the accident, the teenager's grandfather and father allegedly took the driver's phone and detained him in his house located on the grounds of their bungalow from May 19 to 20. The driver was released by his wife,” the police official said. crime branch.
A day earlier, Pune police chief Amitesh Kumar had said that an attempt was made to establish that the high-end car was not driven by the minor.
A Porsche, allegedly driven by the teenager, who police said was drunk at the time, killed two software engineers on a motorcycle in Kalyani Nagar area in the early hours of Sunday.
A local court in Pune on Friday took into custody all six accused arrested in the case, including the teenager's father. The teenager is in an observation home until June 5.
