Police seize more than 25 kilograms of cocaine and MDMA in trafficking investigation

In October 2023, the Edmonton Drug and Gang Section (EDGE) began an investigation into the activities of the accused, Jérémie Manuel, 23 years old. The investigation resulted in the execution of search warrants at a residence in Leduc, Alberta, two storage facilities in Edmonton and Calmar, Alberta, and two vehicles owned by Manuel.

As a result of these search warrants, police seized approximately 15 kg of cocaine, almost 11 kg of MDMA, 270 LSD tablets, 21 grams of methamphetamine, 863 oxycodone tablets and 6 kg of phenacetin, an agent of polishing. Evidence of trafficking, including a hydraulic press, was also seized. The street value of the drugs is estimated at approximately $1.5 million.

Investigators also seized five firearms, nearly $80,000 in cash and a vehicle with a sophisticated hidden compartment.

Items seized in search warrants

Manuel was charged with 10 counts related to drug trafficking, two counts possession of proceeds of crime And unsafe storage of a firearm.

“This was a significant drug bust, removing kilograms of cocaine and MDMA and small quantities of other drugs from the streets of our city,” said Staff Sergeant David Paton, of the EDGE (Edmonton Drug and Gang Enforcement) section of the EPS. “The EDGE Section would like to thank the Leduc, Alberta RCMP for their assistance in this investigation, as well as our law enforcement partners in British Columbia.
