Police searching for missing vulnerable woman, 20, find body in woods

Police searching for a vulnerable woman who went missing three days ago have found a body in nearby woods.

Amy Springer, 20, was reported missing from her home in Hove, East Sussex, on Friday.

At the time, Sussex Police launched an urgent appeal for the “vulnerable” 20-year-old, saying her disappearance was “out of character”.

On Sunday they said officers searching woodland near Portslade Cricket Club in Benfield Valley found a body they believed to be that of Amy.

Police said there were no suspicious circumstances.

Amy's next of kin have been informed, police added, and investigations are continuing at the coroner's office.

An area of ​​Benfield Valley was cordoned off on Sunday afternoon, while several police cars were seen in the Sainsbury's car park, next to the leisure ground where the body was found.

A Sussex Police spokesperson said: “Very sad to report that the body was found by police officers in Portslade this morning, believed to be that of Amy Springer. She had been missing since Friday.

“Although a formal identification has not yet taken place, the body unfortunately appears to be that of Amy and her next of kin have been informed.

“There are no suspicious circumstances and the medical examiner is continuing his investigation.”
