Police say two Vancouver drug policy advocates face trafficking charges – Brandon Sun

VANCOUVER – Two people have been charged following raids last year against a drug user advocacy group that Vancouver police say was trafficking illicit substances in the Downtown Eastside.

Police said in a statement that members of the Drug Users Liberation Front had spoken publicly about trafficking heroin, cocaine and methamphetamines.

They say possession for the purpose of trafficking charges were approved on May 31 against Jeremy Kalicum, 28, and Eris Nyx, 33.

The release said Kalicum and Nyx each face three trafficking charges and are scheduled to appear in court on July 2.

Police raided the downtown Vancouver headquarters and two homes in East Vancouver last October, arresting Kalicum and Nyx, the group's co-founders.

The group previously said it supplied addicts with up to 14 grams of cocaine, heroin or methamphetamine per week, after testing the drugs for safety.
