Police received a lead regarding the disappearance of a Winston-Salem teenager

No one has apparently heard from a Winston-Salem teenager since he got out of a car in Quarry Park last week, a police official said Wednesday.

Kaedian Tyshaun Allen, 19, of East 24th Street, was last seen last Friday evening, Police Capt. Charles Olivo said during a press briefing at the Burke Public Safety Center.

“It’s concerning because it’s unusual for him (Allen) to have no communication with his family,” Olivo said. “That’s why we’re worried.” This is why his family is worried. We are doing everything in our power to find him.

Police received a tip last weekend about Allen's whereabouts, but Allen remains missing, Olivo said.

“Any lead we get, we will follow up on it,” Olivo said. “That’s why we’re asking for the public’s help.”

Police are treating Allen's disappearance as a missing person case, Olivo said.

Officers searched him at Quarry Park on Sunday and Monday using drones, a police dog and divers. Officers are still checking the park for clues to Allen's whereabouts, Olivo said.

“We want to make sure he's okay and get him home safe and sound,” Olivo said.

Allen was last seen at 11:50 p.m. on May 31 near 1790 Quarry Road, police said.

Allen is 6 feet tall and weighs 170 pounds, police said. He was last seen wearing a black and red Nike jacket, dark pants and flip flops.

The incident began when officers attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation around 11:30 p.m. in the 1000 block of Bowman Gray Drive, police said.

Those violations included fictitious vehicle registration, police Capt. Michael Knight said during Wednesday's press briefing.

The driver of the vehicle failed to stop, causing officers to lose sight of the vehicle, police said.

The Winston-Salem Police Department's Real-Time Crime Center found the vehicle around 11:50 p.m. in Quarry Park, police said. When police arrived at the park, they discovered the vehicle abandoned in the parking lot.

Officers then found the driver, Tyrone Monte Eldridge Jr., 20, of Efird Street and charged him with felony fleeing to elude and multiple traffic violations, police said. Eldridge was taken to the Forsyth County Jail with bail set at $5,000.

Officers did not find Allen, the passenger in the vehicle, despite the use of a drone.

Allen is not under investigation for any crimes, Knight said.

On Sunday, Allen's family told police that Allen had not returned home, police said. Officers then returned to Quarry Park and searched with a police dog and drone.

Police also checked local hospitals and city firefighters searched the water.

On Monday, police worked with the Winston-Salem Fire Rescue Team and the High Point Dive Team to search the quarry by boat, police said.

Divers and searchers checked the quarry and its banks and did not find Allen, said Capt. W. Andrew Gray, deputy chief of the Winston-Salem Fire Department.

Searchers checked the entire Quarry Park area, Gray said. The researchers also used a submersible drone.
