Police officer 'beats teenager' for fighting with son

KARACHI:

In a public display of abuse of official authority, a police officer allegedly beat a teenager who fought with his son in Gulistan-e-Jauhar. The disturbing incident was caught on camera and the video has since gone viral on social media.

The video allegedly shows the policeman, identified as “DSP Abdul Rauf”, his sons and colleagues, hitting 16-year-old Abdul Rehman with an iron bar while trying to save the teenager. The police officer brandished a weapon and uttered threats, citing his status as DSP.

According to Abdul Rahman's father, the fight started between his son and a classmate, who happened to be the son of a policeman, during their final year exams in Gulistan-e-Jauhar. In a fit of rage, Abdul Rauf, along with his colleagues and other sons, violently attacked Abdul Rehman with an iron rod.

Abdul Rahman is currently being treated in hospital for head injuries. He underwent two CT scans in the past five hours, revealing the extent of his serious injuries. A case has been registered against Abdul Rauf, Hashir, Rehan and other accomplices involved in the incident.
