A man was the victim of a fatal stabbing at an Upper Manhattan train station Friday evening, according to New York City police.

The incident happened around 5:55 p.m. at the A station located at West 175th Street and Fort Washington Avenue in Washington Heights.

The victim, identified as a man in his 40s, suffered multiple stab wounds to the torso, police said. EMS transported him to Harlem Hospital, where he died of his injuries.

Law enforcement sources told NBC New York that the assault was the result of a dispute.

No information has been made public regarding the suspects. A police investigation remains active.
