Police lay drug trafficking charges in Gympie

Gympie Criminal Investigation Branch detectives have charged two people with a number of dangerous drug and property offences following investigations across the Gympie region.

Investigations into a stolen Mazda BT-50 are believed to have led police to a property in Chatsworth on March 31, where they discovered the vehicle, along with a quantity of drugs including methylamphetamine and cannabis, cash, ammunition and utensils.

Following the search, a 31-year-old Chatsworth man was charged with nine offences, including unlawful use of a motor vehicle and possession of dangerous drugs.

He is due to appear in Gympie court again on August 23.

A 38-year-old woman was also at the address during the search and subsequent inquiries led to police executing a search warrant at a Monkland address on April 18.

It was also alleged that during the search, police found dangerous drugs including methylamphetamine and cannabis, a quantity of cash, utensils, zip lock bags and a mobile phone.

The woman was arrested yesterday and charged with 21 offences, including three counts of possessing dangerous drugs, two counts of supplying dangerous drugs and one count of trafficking dangerous drugs.

Officers will charge the 38-year-old woman from Monkland with supplying dangerous drugs on several occasions between February and April.

She is due to appear in Gympie Magistrates Court today, July 2.
