Police: knife attacks in Queen Anne leave 1 dead, another injured

Seattle Police Department (SPD) investigators are trying to determine what led to two men being stabbed Wednesday evening in the Queen Anne neighborhood.

According to SPD Blotter, the stabbings occurred near West Roy Street around 11:16 p.m.

The first man was found just outside the park. He suffered a knife wound and was taken to hospital. He is listed in stable condition.

“Based on the circumstances and another disturbance call they received, they believed there might be another victim somewhere in Kinnear Park,” SPD Officer Shawn Weismiller told KIRO on Thursday Newsradio.

A K9 unit found the second man stabbed to death inside the park. Police don't know if the two are related.

KIRO 7 spoke to park visitors about the incident.

“It's scary, it's a place I take my dog almost every day and so having the park as an amenity is really important to us, and knowing it's not safe is not a good feeling ” a woman walking her dog in the park told KIRO. 7 Thursday. “I carry pepper spray, having a dog helps, having a big dog helps, I'm pretty comfortable with her and I generally don't like going to the park after dark.”

Another person pointed out that she should avoid the park at night.

“My girlfriend actually lives a block from the park downstairs and I live two blocks away, so I suggest she not walk through it at night,” a man walking in the park told KIRO 7.

KIRO Newsradio asked SPD if there were any other details about the suspects.

“The incidents which led to the stabbings remain under investigation. Once officers have a chance to speak with the surviving victim, they may be able to get more details,” Weismiller said.
