Police investigation underway after suspected carjacking leads to crash on Sawgrass Highway – WSVN 7News | Miami News, Weather, Sports

CORAL SPRINGS, FLA. (WSVN) – A suspected carjacking led to a crash on Sawgrass Highway at University Drive Tuesday morning, prompting a large police presence.

Around 6 a.m., aerial footage from 7Skyforce showed the car, a black Honda SUV, allegedly involved in the carjacking, with severe front-end damage. The SUV was traveling northbound on the highway when it crashed into a guardrail just past University Drive. Aerial footage also shows the bumper on the road and debris from the collision.

Live footage from the crash scene showed an active police presence as Coral Springs Police units at the crime scene collected evidence and documented the scene. Law enforcement appeared to be focusing on the single car involved in the crash. A police officer was seen taking photos of the interior of the SUV.

Following this accident, a right lane is now crossed.

It is unclear if authorities arrested any suspects or if anyone was injured in the incident.
