Police investigation near Kannapolis | wcnc.com

Law enforcement officials could be seen conducting an investigation near Route 29 and Interstate 85.

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. — There was a large police presence in Cabarrus County after suspects led police on a chase from Rowan County, WCNC Charlotte confirmed.

Numerous law enforcement officers were seen near the intersection of Route 29 and Mount Olivet Road, about a half-mile north of Interstate 85.

As the investigation unfolded south of Kannapolis in Cabarrus County, the Rowan County Sheriff's Office and the China Grove Police Department were reportedly among the agencies involved in the investigation.

WCNC Charlotte was able to confirm that the Rowan County Sheriff's Office was investigating suspicious activity when a vehicle carrying suspects headed south toward Kannapolis and Cabarrus County. Some suspects were taken into custody.

Authorities were not immediately able to provide additional details. It was not immediately made public what type of suspicious activity was initially being investigated or how many total suspects may be involved.
