Police investigating stabbing of man following argument in Oak Park

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — San Diego police detectives are investigating after an overnight stabbing turned deadly.

The San Diego Police Department responded to calls about an injured man on the sidewalk in the 2500 block of Euclid Ave in Oak Park just after midnight on June 17.

When officers arrived on scene, they found a man with at least one stab wound to his upper body and a woman trying to help him. A citizen reportedly called 911 after seeing the man bleeding on the ground.

Despite first aid, paramedics were unable to save the man. SDPD says he died at a local hospital a short time later. His name has not been released by authorities pending family notifications, but he is described by SDPD as a 50-year-old Asian man.

San Diego police homicide detectives are investigating due to what they call “unusual circumstances surrounding the death.”

During their initial investigation, SDPD detectives discovered there had been an argument between the man and a woman in a vehicle just before the stabbing. During this argument, a knife was allegedly present, according to the police. However, it is still unclear what the exact events were that led to the man's attack.

Currently, detectives are examining physical evidence from the scene, working to locate and interview witnesses, and canvassing the area for surveillance footage.

Police say the woman involved has been identified, but her identity has not been released at this time as they are investigating her role in the incident.

This is an active and ongoing investigation. Anyone with more information is asked to call the San Diego Police Homicide Unit at 619-531-2293 or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
