Police investigating deadly shooting in Winter Springs

A mother is charged with first-degree premeditated murder after she told police she shot her child's father Wednesday morning after an argument, according to Winter Springs Police Department arrest reports. It was around midnight when Winter Springs cops were called to the apartment in Golf Pointe Villas, off State Route 434. Laurie Adams, 38, said the victim yelled at him and attacked him. pushed against a wall. After calming down, she told police she went to a bedroom closet to retrieve the gun, walked to the porch and shot the victim in the head . The victim, identified as Adel Tawfeek, 51, was rushed to hospital but did not make it. The arrest report states the victim returned home around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday and noticed her son had soiled his pants. which caused the couple to start arguing. “They were together, they have a child in common, there was an argument about the little one,” said Captain Doug Seely. After the argument ended, Adams told police she went back to the back bedroom, grabbed his gun, loaded it and approached him while he was on the porch and shot him in the head. Police said the delay in Adam's decision showed it was premeditated. “That's why in premeditation you can see the timing of decision making,” Seely said. Investigators said domestic violence cases are always difficult because sometimes things simmer and escalate. They suggest reaching out before things get too out of hand. “Call us. You know we're here. There are times when people can go to jail, but it's better to go to jail because of violence between two people than to do this and now be charged with murder.” , Seely said. Adams was transported to the Seminole County Jail on a murder charge, documents state. “There is probable cause to detain you, and at this time I will detain you without bail,” the judge said. Police said they had been to the house before, but never for anything suggesting what happened overnight. “She seems to have been troubled, so we're just waiting to see how the court system is going to work on her decision,” Seely said. A neighbor identified the victim as a nice person. “He was a nice guy. He knew everyone, say hello, hello, you know, he was that guy,” said neighbor Lucy Delgado. lived in this same apartment complex for 11 years and said she couldn't believe this happened. “I didn't expect this to happen here. It's a very nice place here. I haven't heard anything,” Delgado said. The couple's son now works at the Department of Children and Families.

The couple's son now works at the Department of Children and Families.
