Police investigate apparent murder-suicide in Acton, Massachusetts, condo

Police and the Middlesex District Attorney's Office were investigating what authorities called an apparent murder-suicide in Acton, Massachusetts, involving a teenage girl. A 49-year-old stepfather is accused of kidnapping a 16-year-old girl on her way to the parking lot of her home and shooting her before turning the gun on himself, the U.S. District Attorney said Thursday evening. The prosecutor's office said the investigation suggests Santana abducted the victim while she was walking on Great Road near his residence after school and then shot him, then himself. Ryan and Cogan said the 16-year-old victim in this case is the same victim. in an ongoing criminal case against the suspect. According to the prosecutor's office, the victim reported in September 2021 that Santana had sexually assaulted her on several occasions. Santana was arrested and arraigned the same day on six counts of aggravated rape of a child. The prosecutor's office said at Santana's arraignment that his bail was set at $30,000, on the condition that he be monitored by a GPS device, stay away and have no contact with the victim and that he has no unsupervised contact with a person under 18 years of age. The Middlesex District Attorney's Office said the victim's case was scheduled for trial in late July.
