Police identify vehicle suspected in fatal Takoma Park hit-and-run

Montgomery County police have identified the suspect vehicle in a fatal hit-and-run collision that occurred early Monday in the 1100 block of University Boulevard East in Takoma Park, according to a news release Friday.

The vehicle is described as a black Chevrolet Silverado 1500 extended cab pickup truck, likely from a model year between 1999 and 2006, with possible minor damage to its left side from the collision, according to the release.

Around 1:15 a.m., emergency crews responded to a report of a pedestrian struck in the area of ​​the 1100 block of University Boulevard East, near Anne Street, the door wrote Monday morning Montgomery County Fire and Rescue spokesperson Pete Piringer on social media. The location is near the Mega Mart Latino University Boulevard East supermarket.

The pedestrian was found on University Boulevard suffering from head injuries. He was transported to an area hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, according to the police statement.

Detectives determined a westbound vehicle struck the pedestrian, who has not yet been identified, and fled the scene on Lebanon Street toward Prince George's County, according to the release.

Police are working to identify the victim, who is described as a Hispanic male, 30 to 40 years old, 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing approximately 150 pounds, with a small goatee. He was wearing a light blue T-shirt and dark blue sweatpants, the statement said.
