Police identify teen killed in weekend shooting at NW OKC gas station

Oklahoma City police are searching for suspects accused of killing a 17-year-old at a convenience store over the weekend.

Police said several people were seen fleeing the northwest Oklahoma City store after the fatal shooting.

Police identified the victim as 17-year-old William Jackson. Investigators said Jackson died inside the store.

The Express Gas and Grocery store turned into a crime scene Saturday afternoon. According to initial reports, the store clerk was the victim of a robbery. When police arrived on scene near Wilshire Boulevard and Northwest Expressway, they learned the clerk witnessed a fight that had broken out inside the store. This altercation turned into several gunshots.

“Upon arrival, they found a deceased gunshot victim inside,” said Capt. Benjamin Weir, Oklahoma City Police.

Police said Jackson was involved in an altercation with three people. At this time, it is not known what motivated the fight, what it was about or if the victim knew the suspects.

“Multiple weapons were used during the incident,” Weir said.

Police said the three suspects fled the store and are still waiting. Witnesses were interviewed at the scene and investigators collected security video from the area.

“We're trying to get as much information as evidence or video surveillance in that area to try to figure out what exactly happened and who exactly was involved,” said Sgt. Dillon Quirk, Oklahoma City Police Department.

Police said the investigation was still in its early stages and they did not know whether the suspects were juveniles or adults.

The public can call the homicide tip line at (405) 297-1200 if they have any information about the shooting.
